Man charged after reportedly damaging cars, spitting on police officer

Waterloo Regional Police have charged a male after investigating a disturbance call in Cambridge. 

On July 24, 2021, at approximately 4:10 p.m., police responded to a report of a disturbance in the area of Grand Avenue South and Fraser Street. A male was observed damaging vehicles in a parking lot.

The male also got involved in a physical altercation with two other individuals and made threats to harm one of them. One of the victims was transported to hospital with minor injuries. 

Upon arrival, officers located the male and made an arrest. While in police custody, the male spat on an officer. 

As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old male was charged with mischief under $5,000, uttering death threats, assault causing bodily harm, assault and assault peace officer. 

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
