Traffic volumes were up in 2022 compared to 2021 but the Ontario Provincial Police say that the increase in fatalities shouldn't be looked at as an acceptable outcome due to the rise in traffic.

The data for 2022 in OPP jurisdictions shows a rise in the number of motor vehicle fatalities in the province as well as an increase in the total number of crashes.

The number of fatalities increased in 2022 to 359 from 315 during 2021 while the total number of collisions rose from 60,659 in 2021 to 74,172 in 2022.
