Pedestrian seriously injured while crossing Hespeler Road

Collision happened near Sheldon Drive around 11 p.m. Wednesday, closing Hespeler Road for several hours

A 56-year-old Cambridge man is in hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries after he was struck by a pick-up truck while crossing Hespeler Road at Sheldon Drive.

Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service's traffic services unit are continuing to investigate a after police and paramedics responded to reports of a collision shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday. 

Through the initial investigation, it was determined that a pickup truck was travelling north on Hespeler Road when it struck a pedestrian crossing the roadway. 

The man who was struck was transported to an out-of-region hospital. 

The driver of the pickup truck, a 54-year-old Cambridge woman, did not sustain any physical injuries.

Hespeler Road was closed for several hours for the investigation.
