Peterborough resident arrested in relation to renovation fraud

Police say the suspect allegedly received a deposit for home rennovations but did not complete the work

Waterloo Regional Police have made an arrest in connection to a renovation scam investigation. 

On April 24, 2022, police received a report regarding fraud in Cambridge where the victim paid a deposit for home renovations, but work was not completed.

Through investigation, police determined that on April 13, a deposit was sent and received for home renovations, and a refund was not provided.  

As a result of the investigation, a 45-year-old Peterborough male was arrested on June 21 and charged with fraud under $5000 and possession of property obtained by crime.

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
