Pickup driver charged in collision with e-bike in Cambridge

A Cambridge man riding an e-bike suffered serious injuries after a collision with a pickup truck Saturday evening.

Waterloo Regional Police said the collision resulted in charges for the driver of the truck.

At around 8 p.m., emergency services responded to a collision between a black Ford pickup and an e-bike on Dunbar Road near Hespeler Road.

The driver of the e-bike, a 23-year-old from Cambridge, was transported to a local hospital by EMS with serious but non-life threatening injuries, police said in a news release.

The driver of the Ford, a 40-year-old male from London, Ont., did not sustain any physical injuries.

As a result of the investigation, the driver of the pickup was charged with fail to yield from a private drive under the Highway Traffic Act.

A section of Dunbar Road was closed for several hours for the police investigation.
