Police conduct their investigation in the McKay Street & Ballantyne Avenue area of Cambridge.

It was a busy scene in the McKay Street and South Street area of Galt on Sunday as police were on site to investigate damage to a residence, believed to have been caused by a bullet in the overnight hours.

With several police cruisers lining the street just a few steps away from Lincoln Park, half of McKay Street between South Street and Ballantyne Avenue was cordoned off by police tape as officers canvassed door to door speaking with local residents.

Onlookers could be spotted watching the investigation from nearby windows and porches, as officers walked the street checking grass and bushes - with some equipped with metal detectors sweeping the nearby area.

Police forensic and canine units were also on scene assisting with the investigation. At one point in the afternoon, a vehicle from Cambridge Fire responded to the area to provide assistance in helping an officer to the second storey of a residence.

Speaking with 570 NEWS, several local residents expressed concern with the safety of their community, noting that regional police had investigated a stabbing incident on neighbouring Ballantyne Avenue just a month prior in July.

Providing an update on Twitter, Regional Police said they cleared the area shortly after 3 p.m.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is being asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
