Toronto man faces series of charges after Cambridge traffic stop

Electronics and food products found in man's vehicle were allegedly stolen from local businesses

Waterloo regional police  charged a Toronto man with several criminal offences after a traffic stop in Cambridge on Tuesday.

An officer from WRPS’ Traffic Services Unit conducted a traffic stop of a red Dodge in the area of Hespeler Road and Eagle Street North around 6:30 p.m.

During the investigation, the driver was found to have a large amount of stolen electronics and food products from local businesses.

As a result of the investigation, police charged a 44-year-old Toronto man was charged with the following:

  • Impersonation
  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Theft over $5,000
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Possession of stolen property over $5,000
  • Possession of stolen property under $5,000
  • Failure to comply with a release order (two counts)
  • Drive while under suspension
  • Operate unsafe vehicle
  • Owner operate motor vehicle - no insurance

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
