Waterloo Regional Police have arrested two individuals in connection to a staged collision investigation.

In November, investigators arrested a 55-year-old Cambridge male and a 39-year-old Kitchener male in connection to a collision that was reported on June 18, 2020, on Blenheim Road in Cambridge.

At the time, the two males called police to report a head-on collision. It is alleged that both submitted insurance claims for the damaged vehicles and benefits.

Through investigation by the insurance companies and police, it was determined that the collision was staged.

One insurance company reported losses of over $29,000, and the other insurance company reported losses of over $20,000.

As a result of the investigation, both males have been charged with fraud over $5,000 and public mischief.

Both accused parties are scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 14, 2021.
