Youth, 14, charged after woman walking her dog hit with 'projectile'

Police say teen turned himself in after weapons incident involving BB or pellet gun

Police say a 14-year-old has been charged after a woman out walking her dog with struck by a projectile possibly fired from a BB or pellet gun.

Waterloo Regional Police say the youth was arrested in connection with the weapons incident in Woolwich Township after he turned himself in.

On Sept. 24 at around 6:50 p.m., police received a report of an individual struck by an unidentified projectile in the Bristow Creek Drive and Raising Mill Gate area in Elmira.

The victim, a 43-year-old female from Woolwich Township, was walking her dog when the projectile, possibly a pellet or a BB, struck her, according to a Waterloo Regional Police news release.

On Oct. 1, a 14-year-old youth from Woolwich Township turned himself in to police.

The youth was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
