One new death reported in latest local COVID update

One new COVID-related death was confirmed by Region of Waterloo Public Health in the latest update.

As a result, the local death toll is now 495 since the start of the pandemic. 

Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 remain unchanged since the last update. There are currently 26 patients hospitalized, with four patients in intensive care with COVID.

185 new cases were also confirmed, putting the overall total at 53,661. 

The active caseload is up by 17 since the last update to 204.

A reminder, COVID-19 case counts are said to be an underestimate due to ongoing testing restrictions.
