One new death, ten more hospitalizations in latest COVID update

The local death toll is now 496 since the start of the pandemic - including 178 since the start of this year

One new COVID-related death was confirmed by Region of Waterloo Public Health in the latest update.

As a result, the local death toll is now 496 since the start of the pandemic. 

Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 have climbed since the last update. There are currently 36 patients hospitalized, with four patients in intensive care with COVID.

194 new cases were also confirmed, putting the overall total at 53,855. 

The active caseload is up by one since the last update to 205.

A reminder, COVID-19 case counts are said to be an underestimate due to ongoing testing restrictions.
