Public health reports one new COVID-related death

Hospitalizations continue to drop in the region

One new COVID-related death was confirmed by Region of Waterloo Public Health in the latest update, released Friday afternoon. As a result, the local death toll has risen to 480.

Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 have continued to drop since the last update. There are currently 42 patients hospitalized, down from 49 patients in last week's update. There are five patients in intensive care with COVID.

260 new cases were also confirmed Friday, putting the overall total at 52,308.

The active caseload is up by 66 since the last update to 341.
