Architectural firm moving into old Keleher's building in Preston

Once a popular Western apparel business, the old Keleher's building will soon be home to Greystone Design Group

Once home to Cambridge's well known Western apparel store, the old Keleher's building is set to take on a business of a different kind.

Greystone Design Group, an architectural firm, will be setting up offices where cowboy boots, hats and leather jackets were once on display. Framing on the interior of the office on the bank of the Grand River has started.

The company focuses on retail and commercial architecture, servicing national brands from coast to coast and has been in the Kitchener-Waterloo area for 25 years.

Initially a horse equipment business that was run out of the family home by Wilfred Keleher, the 1980 recession forced many residents to sell their horses and the Keleher's to switch business models.

From there the Western apparel store was born.

The family moved to a new house on Townline Road and operated out of a large farm kitchen and an eventual addition before Petro Canada came knocking, looking to purchase the 12 acre property.

With the price being right, the family sold and moved to what would be their final home at 154 King St. E in Preston.

The new office will be officially opening this summer.
