As the community continues to see a rise in those experiencing homelessness, the Cambridge Shelter Corporation is asking for support to keep providing beds to those in need.

Along with other social services in the city, The Bridges, run by the Cambridge Shelter Corp. has seen a sharp increase in those accessing their services.

So far in 2023, Bridges has served over 35,627 meals and estimate more than 70,000 more meals will be served this year.

The community organization is now turning to the community for donations of food and clothing and any donated funds will allow the staff to plan for additional expenses.

“Our mission is to provide safe shelter, and to offer programs and services in support of the hopes and needs of people dealing with life issues,” said the organization on their website.

According to data provided by the Region of Waterloo, there is an estimated 1,000 people experiencing homelessness and hundreds more who are chronically homeless across the region.

To support the bridges, donations can be made directly to the non-profit at their website
