Cambridge church youth group in need of items to fill ‘blessing bags’ for the needy

Youth at the New Apostolic Church in Cambridge are collecting items for blessing bags to distribute to those in need in the community.

Everyone is invited to drop off items off at the New Apostolic Church located at 10 Birkinshaw Rd. in Cambridge, on Thursday, April 28, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Items needed to fill the bags include non-perishable foods such as trail mix, oatmeal packs and granola bars, toiletries such as toothbrushes deodorant and soap, personal items including towels, hand cloths, face and body care products, brushes and combs, bottled water, and hand sanitizer.

Some extra items include notes of encouragement, a list of local resources, a prepaid phone card or a grocery store gift card.

Working with 519 Community Collective, a local non-profit organization, youth from the New Apostolic Church look forward to doing their part in helping those in need in Waterloo Region.

519 Community Collective currently operates 12 programs across the region, including a community fridge and 23 different food pantries. Volunteers also serves food five nights a week at locations across the tri-cities.
