Cambridge driver charged with impaired in Guelph

Police report they observed the 28 year old driving erratically

A Cambridge male was arrested for impaired operation early Friday after officers observed him driving erratically.

Approximately 2:10 a.m., Guelph Police Service officers on patrol saw a pickup truck leaving a licenced establishment on Silvercreek Parkway South. As officers began following the truck it made an abrupt left turn and accelerated quickly.

Officers observed the driver stop in the middle of the road then make another abrupt turn and accelerate quickly while driving in the middle of the road. The truck was stopped and police noted signs of impairment, including a strong odour of alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath.

The male was taken to the police station where breath tests confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.

A 28-year-old Cambridge male is charged with impaired operation and impaired operation – blood alcohol. His driver’s licence was automatically suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. He will appear in a Guelph court Nov. 25.
