For the 40th year local artists were recognized for their work at the Bernice Adams Awards ceremony

Seven Bernice Adams Awards were handed out to six artists and one group on Thursday evening for their outstanding contributions to artistic and cultural life in Cambridge.

Marilynn Franks took home the Heart of Hearts award, Dhaval Patel was recognized in the communications category, with Patricia Oliver being honoured for literary art.

The Outstanding Youth award was given to Oliver Cote, who became the youngest winner in history.

Joy Schuster and Sabatino Vacca won awards for music and performing arts, respectively.

Rounding out the winners was the Cambridge Sculpture Garden in the visual arts category.

Mayor Jan Liggett and city councillors were on hand to celebrate the winners, with a special performance from Miss Tammy Darling.

Named in honour of late councillor Bernice Adams, the awards were created to recognize her many contributions and support for arts and culture in the city.
