Cambridge Harvest Festival kicks off fall

Fall is officially here and the Hespeler Village Neighbourhood Association celebrated with its annual Harvest Festival

The community took to Forbes Park in Hespeler on Saturday to enjoy a day of fun activities in celebration of a new season.

The Hespeler Village Neighbourhood Association put on its 12th annual Harvest Festival on the first day of fall.

"The festival is geared to families," Amanda Horne, executive director of HVNA said.

"The event is offered for free to create an opportunity for our residents to engage in their community."

The day featured carnival games, food, a bouncy castle, pumpkin decorating, a petting zoo, a bouncy castle, train rides and vendors.

The one activity that always gets a laugh out of Horne and those in attendance is the popular pie eating contest.

Live entertainment was also on stage in the park, including the children's musical group The Relative Minors, Onion Honey, Lucas Stagg and Rufus John.

It's not uncommon to see 3,500 to 4,000 people come through the park to participate in the fun, Horne says.

"I hope people walked away from the festival with a memory of reconnecting with a neighbour or an old friend all while being entertained," Horne said.

"It’s a fun event to kick off the fall."
