Co-workers at manufacturing firm, including two residents of Cambridge, share in lottery win.

Two residents of Cambridge are part of a group of four co-workers who took home a Lotto 6/49 second prize worth $81,744.70 in the April 12 draw.

Joe Chaves and Robert Field of Cambridge, Ripeshkumar Patel of Richmond Hill and Maurizio Bertani of Kleinburg work together in the manufacturing industry.

They have been playing the lottery together since 1992, the OLG said in a news release.

Chaves checked the group’s ticket on the OLG app one morning and discovered they had won big.

“The others were at work, so I texted them to share the news,” he said. “They didn’t believe it!”

“I couldn’t have won with nicer guys,” said Bertani, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

The group has various plans for their share of the windfall, including paying bills, going on vacation, and sharing with their families.

The winning ticket was purchased at Petro Canada on Dundas Street in Cambridge.
