NEWS RELEASE
REGION OF WATERLOO

To accommodate everyone 18 years of age and older who will become eligible for the COVID-19 bivalent booster on Sept. 26, the region is planning to reopen the Cambridge Pinebush vaccination clinic.

Adults who are 18 years of age and older will be able to use the provincial portal starting on Monday, Sept. 26, to book an appointment for their bivalent booster dose.

How to book a COVID-19 vaccine appointment

The Moderna Spikevax COVID-19 bivalent vaccine has been recommended for adults 18+ as a booster dose at six months since the previous dose (or at least three months with informed consent). A booster dose will provide added protection against COVID-19 this fall and winter, when the transmission of COVID-19 is expected to increase. The bivalent vaccine has been shown to trigger a strong immune response against the original Omicron virus strain (BA.1) and its subvariants (BA.4 and BA.5).

More information about recommended intervals following COVID-19 infection is available here.

Vaccines are readily available from many participating pharmacies and some physicians’ offices.

Other opportunities to get the bivalent booster vaccine will be posted on the region’s website.
