On June 26, 2021, at approximately 12 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to a collision at the intersection of Weaver Street and Queen Street West in Cambridge.

Through investigation, police determined that a transport truck was parked on Weave Street while the driver was loading equipment onto the flat deck of the trailer when the truck slid down the hill of the street.

The transport truck continued down Weaver Street and knocked over a hydro pole and several guy wires before becoming lodged in the forest area at the bottom of Queen Street West.

The driver was thrown from the trailer and was transported to hospital by Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services with non-life-threatening injuries.

Power to the area was disabled while Cambridge Hydro made repairs. Environmental cleanup services also attended the scene as various fluids were spilled on the roadway. Area roads were closed for approximately 10 hours before being reopened.

The investigation is ongoing by Waterloo Regional Police Service's Traffic Unit. Charges are pending.
