Main Street was the site of activities and events all summer as part of the city's seasonal road closure program.

The City of Cambridge is turning to residents to gather feedback on its seasonal road closure program through an online survey.

Each year from May to October, Main Street between Ainslie Street and Water Street in Galt closes seven days a week to vehicle traffic and Queen Street East in Hespeler, between Guelph Avenue and Tannery Street, shuts down on weekends.

The program, which began in 2020 in partnership with the Downtown Cambridge and Hespeler Village BIAs, aims to promote pedestrian foot traffic, allow for events to be held, businesses to expand their outdoor areas and restaurants to extend patios.

Now the city wants to know what people liked and what could be improved.

Questions in the survey include overall thoughts on the program, preferred length, if there were enough activities and events, and if it should continue in the future.

The survey will be available until Dec. 18 and can be accessed here.
