The City of Cambridge will give away 400 free trees to residents on Saturday, April 22.

“Planting a tree improves air quality, fights climate change, provides shade and habitat for wildlife,” said Sam Scarlett, Manager of Operations for Forestry and Horticulture. “As we look to grow our tree canopy we want to make it easy for residents to help by providing trees free of charge.”

A variety of native tree species are available for selection through online registration, while supplies last. Each are approximately one meter tall and come in two-gallon containers. Those who have registered for a tree can pick it up on April 22 at Hespeler Memorial Arena.

The trees should be planted on private property, such as at the side or back of your home.

Register for a tree today and help brighten your community and your yard this spring.
