Council holding special meeting to ratify UNIFOR deal

A Special Meeting of Regional Council will take place Thursday night for final ratification of the agreement with UNIFOR Local 4304, according to a news release.

The agreement provides an overall increase of 9.88 per cent in wages and benefits over three years, effective May 1.

This includes wage adjustments of:

  • 3 per cent on May 1, 2023, plus a one-time market adjustment of $1.00/hour on May 1, 2023
  • 2.25 per cent on May 1, 2024
  • 2.2 per cent on May 1, 2025

All Grand River Transit buses, including MobilityPLUS buses, will resume service on Thursday, May 11, and customer service centres will reopen. No fares will be collected from that day to May 22. Customers who purchased a May monthly pass before May 8 will receive a June pass.
