Aslam Dudha is excited to serve up sweet treats to the community at Crumbs and Cream.

Aslam Dudha is steadfast on helping people and serving the community.

An active real estate agent that also owns both a fried chicken restaurant on Franklin Boulevard and his own travel agency, Dudha has found his new venture in the dessert business.

And Crumbs and Cream isn't your ordinary sweet tooth shop.

“This place is kind of unique,” Dudha said.

“We have some ice cream places in Cambridge, but what we’ll be doing it’s not just ice cream. We’ll be having different options as the concept we want to create isn’t being offered here. If people want to go out for dessert other than traditional ice cream they’ll often go to Kitchener or out of town.”

Originally from India, Dudha has been living in Cambridge for 12 years and wanted to bring a taste of his culture to the city through desserts.

Slushy-style shots with a variety of fruits, including those from overseas, mini pancakes and waffles, edible waffle sticks and ice creams will be offered.

Some of the ingredients he has on order can take weeks to arrive from other countries, furthering the uniqueness of the menu options.

The shop, located in the recently closed Baskin Robbins franchise at 425 Hespeler Rd., will be doing a soft opening in the next couple of weeks with a grand opening being planned in the next month or so, once staff are masters of the vast menu.

Dudha admits that running so many businesses can be time consuming, but he loves to work and is always looking for the next way to improve himself, his business acumen and the community in which he lives.

“From the beginning I never wanted to stick to the nature of one job,” he said.

“I always wanted to have multiple options. I love to work, I love to expand myself.”

By being a business owner, Dudha feels an obligation to better his community and provide opportunities for those within it.

“I want to help people at the same time,” he said.

“If I buy a business, I’m then able to create more jobs for local people to come and work. That’s part of the idea behind all of this.”

For now, Dudha is looking forward to his soft opening and hopes people will come by, enjoy a treat and give their honest feedback.

“I’ll take people’s feedback and if we need to change anything, we’ll upgrade,” he said.

“Give me a chance, I encourage everyone to come by and give it a try. We choose our menu based on what people love and I'll try my best to serve the people of this community.”
