Driver refuses screening after hitting 80-year-old pedestrian

A Brant County man has been charged after his car collided with an 80-year-old man who was rushed to hospital with non-life threatening injuries Thursday night.

The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. on Branchton Road near Morrison Road in North Dumfries, just outside of Cambridge city limits.

The pedestrian was transported to an out-of-region hospital.

The driver, a 31-year-old, reported no physical injuries.

As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested and charged with refusal to comply with approved screening device (ASD) demand - bodily harm.

The roadwas closed for several hours for the police investigation and have since been reopened.

The investigation is ongoing.
