Drug, weapons charges for Cambridge woman

GUELPH – An investigation into a stolen vehicle has led to a long list of drug and weapons charges for two people.

Approximately 9 a.m. Tuesday, Guelph police on routine patrol queried a licence plate on a vehicle parked on Macdonell Street and learned it had been reported stolen from Cambridge.

A man and woman were arrested for possessing the vehicle. Searches incident to arrest revealed various quantities of controlled substances including suspected crack cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamines, morphine and prescription pills. Officers also recovered a sawed-off shotgun, ammunition, a conducted energy weapon, a large amount of suspected stolen property and more than $1,500 in cash.

A 32-year-old Guelph man and 19-year-old Cambridge woman face charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking, possessing prohibited weapons and possessing property obtained by crime.
