The Sam Roberts Band will headline Fest2Fall next month.

In a city that seems to be turning a corner when it comes to attracting visitors and putting on headline events, a Cambridge business is looking to add to the growing list.

Fest2Fall, hosted by Farm League Brewing, is slated to take place at Churchill Park on Sept. 22 and 23.

It’s all part of the local brewery's commitment to the city and making it a go-to hub for entertainment.

“Ever since we opened the brewery we've been wanting to make live music and events a large part of our brand,” Collin McKinnon, co-owner of Farm League Brewing said.

“We've been waiting for the right time to jump up to something of a bigger scale like this and everything fell into place nicely to make it happen this September.”

Dwayne Gretzky will headline a musical lineup on the Friday that also features Said the Whale, The Free Label and Ten Minute Detour.

On Saturday, Sam Roberts Band takes centre stage. Ruby Waters, Bros, Deanna Petcoff, Feral Minks and local artists the Eric Bolton Band are scheduled to perform throughout the day.

Vendors and artisans will be set up and food and drink stations will be serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic options.

For McKinnon, the positive feedback he’s received so far about the event is symbolic of the greater level of support his brewery has felt from the community.

“We love Cambridge,” he said.

“For our brewery it's home and the community has been supportive since day one. The response to our concerts has really blown us away so we knew there would be demand for something larger.”

McKinnon, who admits to being a huge Sam Roberts fan, says residents can expect a dance party from Friday until the end of the day on Saturday.

While admittedly a lot of work to put on an event of this magnitude, he knows that’s what it takes to build a community known as a hotbed for leisure.

“We think a festival of this this size will continue to push the conversation forward out of town that Cambridge is and will continue to be a destination for A+ entertainment and hospitality,” he said.

“We see this festival as a large annual event to cap off the summer but the amazing work of the whole community of businesses is what is already putting the city on the map.”
