In an un-traditional twist, Drayton Entertainment’s production of Fiddler on the Roof will showcase the talents of award-winning fiddler Jesse Grandmont.

He will breathe life into “the fiddler” character this holiday season at the Hamilton Family Theatre Cambridge from Nov. 29 to Dec. 24.

“Casting an actual fiddler will add so much to the production, and no one could do it better than a world-class musician like Jesse,” says Alex Mustakas, Artistic Director of Drayton Entertainment. “You’ll want to see this one - even if you’ve seen the musical a dozen times!”

Jesse recently appeared in Drayton Entertainment’s Fiddler on the Loose, where he anchored the production with his incredible fiddling and breezy banter. He has also appeared in Good Ol’ Country Gospel, Canada 151: Better Late Than Sorry, and Broadway Heroes.

This natural-born entertainer has been playing the violin since the age of three, and has toured internationally with the Ontario Festival Symphony Orchestra and the popular fiddle group, Barrage. Last year, he represented Canada for seven months at Expo Dubai.

A fixture at the Victoria Playhouse Petrolia, he has appeared in numerous shows including Country Sunshine, Country Christmas JamboreeJesse’s Country Jubilee, and more. More recently, Jesse arranged, music directed and performed in the new Canadian musical, Strike! The Musical for Rainbow Stage in Winnipeg.

Fiddler on the Roof tells the story of Tevye, a humble milkman whose life has been governed by strict traditions that will never change…until he selects suitors for his daughters and discovers that the younger generation will create traditions of their own.

Featuring an unforgettable score of classic songs like “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” and “If I Were A Rich Man,” Fiddler on the Roof has ensured a legacy as one of the most acclaimed musicals in history.

Regular performance tickets are $55 for adults, $34 for youth under 20 years of age. Discounts for select dates and groups are available. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 519-621-8000, toll free at 1-855-drayton (372-9866), or online at www.draytonentertainment.com.
