Flair Airlines gave an update on the economic impact it is seeing flying out of the Region of Waterloo International Airport

The airline says there has been $61 million worth of economic activity from the airport.

Stephen Jones is the chief executive officer with Flair and is pleased with Flair's relationship with the regional airport.

"Even before Flair came, they've been actively working to bring connectivity to their city because they know the value of connectivity," Jones said. "They've worked their way through attractively into the market, and then have gone through quite a thoughtful expansion of the airport as it stands today."

Jones said the airport's $44 million expansion has already seen a return on investment with an economic benefit for the community.

Flair also released its 2023 winter schedule which will include a new route from the regional airport to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. That route will begin in December and operate three times a week.

Additionally, Flair previously announced plans to fly to Abbotsford, British Columbia from Waterloo which will begin in May.
