Folk singer Ian Bell is returning to Cambridge Nov. 18 for a concert at Wesley United Church.

Folk singer and composer Ian Bell is returning to Cambridge Nov. 18 to perform at the Wesley United Church sanctuary in Galt.

Bell has performed professionally across Canada and in the United States since the late 1970s. On his own and with several ensembles, he has appeared at numerous folk festivals and in concerts.

He currently performs regularly with the Sandplains Pickers, The Friends of Fiddler’s Green, and regularly appears onstage with author and storyteller Dan Needles, creator of the popular “Wingfield Farm” plays.

As a long-time freelance broadcaster, Bell worked on many occasions with Stuart McLean on CBC Radio's Vinyl Café. He has co-written and served as musical director for five Vinyl Café national concert broadcasts.

For seven years Bell was a regular contributor to the weekend Fresh Air program on CBC radio. He has also contributed to numerous film scores and performed period music for and occasionally appeared in the TV series, The Road to Avonlea.

Bell performs material from a large repertoire that includes both Canadian traditional music and his own songs and instrumental compositions. His original songs have been performed and recorded by contemporary folk performers.

In addition to his musical activities, Ian also worked in Ontario community museums (including Norwich and Port Dover) for 30 years.

Parking for the show is available behind City Hall, in the Cambridge Street lot. Entrance to the church is through the Cambridge Street doors.

Doors and Bar Open at 7:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 8 p.m.
