Get moving and learn about healthy eating habits at two classes being put on by the Cambridge Food Bank this month.

The Cambridge Food Bank is trying to help the community stick to those new year's resolutions and create a healthier lifestyle in 2024.

Two free yoga classes and a session on nutritional eating is being offered later this month.

On Jan. 10, residents can stretch out and experience the benefits of yoga under the gazebo at rare Gardens from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. No registration is required but staff will be collecting non-perishable food donations.

The following week on Jan. 17, another class is scheduled at the Cambridge Food Bank from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The session also features a nutritional component where participants can learn quick, easy and healthy recipes to make at home.

By running these workouts, the food bank hopes to increase nutritional knowledge, create a sense of belonging, help people improve their hydration and provide healthier snack options to eat after physical activity.

Community engagement continues to be a focus of the food bank in 2024 after a year in which they served over 10,000 individuals 43,000 times, a 39 per cent increase over 2022. Of those who accessed its services, 34 per cent of them were children, according to its data collection.

Registration is required for the Yoga and Nutrition class and can be done by calling 519-572-9359 or emailing [email protected].
