Cambridge native Rylee Foster is thanking fans for messages of support, as she continues to recover from the injuries sustained last month in a crash.

Liverpool FC Women provided an update on the 23-year-old goalkeeper's condition Saturday, saying Foster sustained some fractures to the vertebrae in her neck.

“Rylee’s injuries required stabilisation in an external fixation device," said Liverpool team doctor Dr. Amelia Woodhouse in a media release.

"She will need to stay in this for a minimum of six weeks while being closely monitored by ourselves and spinal specialists.  A number of other internal injuries have shown improvement on recent scans, while she is wearing a brace for an injury to her knee.”

The team said Foster was the passenger in a crash last month, while she was visiting friends on an International break.

"The outpouring of support has been overwhelming, I am so grateful to have you all by my side as I go through my recovery and rehabilitation," Foster said via Twitter.

"These next few months will be some of the most difficult in my life.  What I know is the challenges ahead are saved only for the people that can handle them."
