Hespeler Optimist Club hosting food drive for Cambridge Food Bank

Residents can drop off food items or make a monetary donation on March 25

The food drive will take place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Hespeler Memorial Arena.

The Hespeler Optimist Club will be running a food drive, drive-thru style, on March 25 in support of the Cambridge Food Bank.

The food bank has seen a 54 per cent increase in households served in February 2023 compared the the same time last year.

In January of this year they served 3,199 people, a number that rose from 1,887 in 2022. 

Currently, the most needed items are sandwich spreads like nut butters and jams, breakfast foods such as cereals and pancake mixes, canned tomatoes, pasta, pasta sauce, rice and gluten-free grain options.

The Optimist Club will also be accepting monetary donations via cash, cheque and credit.

Upon donation, residents will receive a ballot for the chance to win a special prize.

Those wishing to donate can do so by dropping off items in the far parking lot of Hespeler Memorial Arena located at 630 Ellis Rd between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
