The Hespeler Village Music Festival will take place July 8.

A full lineup of children’s entertainment and bands will welcome residents to Forbes Park for the Hespeler Village Music Festival on July 8.

The roots of the annual festival date back almost three decades with ties to another local event.

“It started because of the Hespeler reunion,” Crystal Bechtel, chair of the HVMF, said.

“The reunion takes place every 10 years and they wanted people to remember it and so the music festival was a yearly way to do that.”

The free, family-friendly gathering in the park will feature three children’s entertainment acts and eight bands, including Seven Sundays, Missouri Bogs, Tabasko Kats, Copperfield 3, Nick Vokey band, Shred Penner, Jon Knight and Lori Dietrich.

Aside from the music, there will be kids activities, games, an inflatable obstacle course, food trucks, a beverage tent and vendors.

“The neighbourhood associations do a wonderful job with the kids activities,” Bechtel said.

“There's kids entertainment and activities in the morning. The beverage tent opens at noon and right around 3 o’clock the bands start and play until 10 p.m. There are food trucks and lots of vendors this year.”

The Cambridge Food Bank will also be on hand collecting donations.

For Bechtel, she’s most looking forward to seeing people out and having a good time.

“I hope people know they live in a great community where we get together and have fun,” she said.

“I’m looking forward to the community coming together. It’s fun to see everybody out seeing old friends and making new ones.”

The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
