Latest data shows overdose-related emergency calls still rising

Six more suspected opioid-related overdose deaths were also reported from June 22 to July 18

There's been another rise in the number of overdose deaths and related emergency calls in Waterloo Region. 

Data current to July 18 shows a total of 35 suspected opioid-related overdose deaths so far this year. 

That's six more since the last update was released almost a month ago on June 22. 

There have also been a total of 777 overdose-related emergency calls so far this year as of July 23, which is an increase of 151 since June 11. Naloxone has been used 116 times. 

Last year was record-breaking for overdose calls with more than 1,500 recorded, and naloxone administrations reached an all-time high of 207.
