NEWS RELEASE
ROTARY CAMBRIDGE SUNSET
*************************
On Tuesday, May 9, a group of over 90 community leaders will gather to celebrate the launch of the newest Rotary club in Cambridge.

The charter celebration for Rotary Cambridge Sunset recognizes the launch of a fourth club in Cambridge, and one of 50 clubs in District 7080 (which covers Waterloo, Wellington, Halton, Woodstock, Oxford and area).

Rotarians are known locally for founding the Rotary Children’s Centre (now KidsAbility), and for supporting healthcare, literacy, nutrition, social housing, environmental projects, and decades of work to eradicate polio.

Rotary has seven areas of focus: community economic development; maternal and child health; supporting environment; water, sanitation and hygiene; disease prevention and treatment; basic education and literacy; and peacebuilding and conflict prevention.

Club co-presidents Anne Tinker and Prakash Venkataraman said, “We’re thrilled to celebrate the launch of our club and begin to make a difference in our community.”

In a congratulatory message to the club, Jennifer Jones (a Canadian and first woman president of Rotary International) adds, “We join Rotary because we love people and spending time together.  Through your commitment to Rotary, you express your belief in Rotary’s values and the importance of friendship and your commitment to service above self.”
