Northbound traffic on Hwy 24 to take two week detour on new south boundary road

Detour on the new McQueen Shaver Boulevard to accommodate final work on roundabout

Northbound traffic coming into the city on Highway 24 will be detoured east on the new McQueen Shaver Boulevard for two weeks starting Tuesday to accommodate the final construction stage of the south boundary road project.

The Region of Waterloo says detouring is necessary in order safely complete remaining construction of the central portion of the roundabout at the intersection of the highway.

Southbound traffic on Highway 24 (Water Street) will be maintained.

The northbound detour is planned to start on or about Tuesday and is expected to end by July 20.

The new road has yet to be added to Google Maps.

The northbound detour off Highway 24 will use the new McQueen Shaver Boulevard east to the Franklin Boulevard Extension and then westbound on Myers Road returning to Highway 24 (Water Street).
