Police are urging drivers never to leave a pet inside a vehicle during the summer. WRPS has responded to eight calls about dogs being left in vehicles since the start of July.

Waterloo Regional Police have issued a reminder to pet owners.

On July 11, police announced they have received eight calls relating to animals being left inside of parked vehicles since the start of the month.

Police said temperatures can rise quickly inside of cars, even if a window is cracked open.

If you see a pet in distress in a hot car and are concerned their life is danger, you're being asked to call 911 immediately.

Police said it's considered an emergency, but are advising against breaking into the vehicle yourself.
