For the second year in a row, Cambridge counselling and addictions service Porchlight will be hosting a walk for mental health.

On April 27 starting at Cambridge City Hall, participants are asked to walk 2.5 km with those who are looking to go the extra mile to complete a 5 km walk.

"Cambridge Moves for Mental Health is Porchlight's signature community fundraising event, now in its second year, where participants are encouraged to raise donations and complete a 2.5km or 5km route by walking, rolling, running, or moving in any other way which brings them joy - all in support of mental health services in Cambridge and North Dumfries," said the organization on its website.

Registration and check-in will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the event starting at 11:00 a.m. All participants will receive a yellow Cambridge Moves for Mental Health shirt to take home with them.

"Those who have a shirt from a previous year are invited to wear it again, to assist us in keeping Cambridge Moves for Mental Health as eco-friendly as possible," said Porchlight.

Participants are asked to raise funds for the organization leading up to the walk. They recommend creating fundraising groups or office pools to help spread the word and work together.

The walk itself is free to attend and the fundraiser is live on the counselling service's website where the organization announced it has already raised $3,145 of its $25,000 goal.

All proceeds go directly to Porchlight Counselling and Addiction Services to continue providing accessible mental health services in Cambridge and North Dumfries.
