Pumpkin walks are taking place at the Cambridge Sculpture Garden, Central Park and Forbes Park on Nov. 1.

Three locations across the city will be putting pumpkins on display one final time tonight.

Pumpkin walks, which encourage residents to drop off their pumpkins to one of three locations across Galt, Hespeler and Preston, are a way for people to showcase their jack-o'-lantern before seeing them donated or composted.

Volunteers collect the pumpkins during the day and light them at night for the community to view.

The Galt walk is scheduled for the Cambridge Sculpture Garden from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Participants are asked to deliver their pumpkins to 37 Grand Ave S between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. They will then be lined along a path through the garden, Galt Horticulture Society and Grand River trail.

The Hespeler Village Neighbourhood Association is also hosting a version of the walk. Staff and volunteers will be gathering pumpkins at Forbes Park from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and getting them ready for the show beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Funnel Cloud food truck and a beverage truck will be onsite offering treats and warm drinks for purchase.

In Preston, pumpkins are being collected in Central Park from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the walk starting at 6:30 p.m.

Following the events, volunteers donate the pumpkins to local farms or compost them.

The pumpkins must be free of metal, toothpicks, paint or anything that may hurt animals if consumed.

All the walks are free of charge.
