Upstream Fund applications are open until April 28.

The Region of Waterloo will be at Langs on April 16 to answer questions regarding its Upstream and Community Capacity Building Fund.

With the funds, the region supports community-led initiatives that align with its Community Safety and Wellbeing Plan.

Grassroots organizations, groups and individuals who are currently working on projects that create more equitable communities are eligible, with up to $1.89 million in funding being given out annually.

Groups who have historically been excluded from funding opportunities including initiatives led by, and that serve, the Indigenous, Black and other communities facing discrimination and systemic barriers are prioritized.

Past areas of focus have centred around truth and reconciliation, committing to anti-hate and anti-racism, and creating cultural safety.

The in-person information session allows for residents to ask questions about the application process and CCB funding. Registration is required and a light meal will be provided.

There will also be a virtual session held on April 11.

The Upstream Fund application is open until April 28 and can be accessed here.
