The Region of Waterloo is proposing a pedestrian crosswalk along St. Andrews Street at Gilholm Avenue after staff assessed pedestrian volume at the intersection was enough to warrant the change.
A recent survey of the intersection shows that there are approximately 117 pedestrians crossing St. Andrews Street at Gilholm Avenue.
Staff recommend a Type C Level 2 crossing, which includes signs, pavement markings, and rapid flashing beacons to advise motorists that they must stop and yield the right-of-way.
The City of Cambridge says it plans to remove an existing school crossing guard at the intersection should the region approve the crosswalk upgrade this summer.
