The Cambridge Food Bank is already getting into the holiday spirit.

Beginning today, residents can purchase mini lavender and rosemary trees in support of the food bank.

The plants are six inches in height and give the appearance of a miniature Christmas tree. They can be used as centrepieces, decor or as a hostess gift.

Proceeds from the sale, which lasts until Nov. 30, help provide a family in need with a meal during the holidays.

The use of the food bank hasn't slowed down over the past year. According to its statistics, individuals have accessed its services over 31,000 times so far this year, which is the same total as all of 2022.

One in 18 people in Cambridge and North Dumfries have turned to a food bank for support, a figure that's higher than the provincial average of one in 26 based on stats from Feed Ontario.

Trees are $20 and can be ordered here.

Pickup will take place on Dec. 6, 7 and 8 at 54 Ainslie St. S.
