Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:

  • Guelph - Erin - Southern Wellington County
  • Kitchener - Cambridge - Region of Waterloo

At 6:00 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing heavy rain.

This severe thunderstorm is located near Cambridge extending northeast towards Aberfoyle, moving northeast at 25 km/h.

Hazard: Heavy rainfall of 50 to 75 mm.

Locations impacted include:
Cambridge, Hespeler, Arkell, Aberfoyle and Morriston.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Avoid driving through water on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
