A three week closure of Fountain Street South at Shantz Hill Road will begin Monday, Nov. 13.

The Region of Waterloo is removing and upgrading storm sewers on a section of Fountain Street South to allow for additional storm water capacity.

Fountain Street South at Shantz Hill Road will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the work, which is expected to last until Dec. 1.

Detour signs will direct drivers heading south on King Street in Kitchener to 401 West to get to Blair or down Eagle Street to the Hespeler Road 401 west onramp.

Emergency Services (Police, Fire, and Paramedics) have been notified of the construction, closures and detours to minimize any disruptions to services.

The sidewalks in this area will remain accessible during the project. Pedestrians should follow the signs as they walk through the site.

All businesses in the construction area remain open and accessible during construction.

The region says every effort will be made to maintain access to residential and business driveways in the construction area during working hours (7 a.m. – 7 p.m.).

Construction activities may temporarily impact access to entrances and notice will be provided about any interruption in advance as much as possible.

Drivers are asked to plan for some delays and travel carefully in the construction zone and to obey all traffic signage for their safety and for the safety of the workers.
