There's a new record for biggest baby born at Cambridge Memorial Hospital

Baby Sonny weighed in at 14 pounds, eight ounces, which is the heaviest baby since records could be traced in 2010

Cambridge's Britteney and Chance Ayres welcomed their fifth child to the family on Monday and broke a Cambridge Memorial Hospital record in the process.

Baby Sonny came into the world on Oct. 23 at 5 p.m. weighing 14 pounds, eight ounces. He's the biggest baby born at CMH since 2010 when records were available, as confirmed by Stephan Beckhoff, manager of public affairs and communications at the hospital.

"We’re over the moon," Britteney said.

"We're just so thrilled to have another big healthy baby."

Another big baby? Yes, that's right.

The Ayres' daughter weighed 13 pounds, 14 ounces at birth and one of her other sons tipped the scales at 13 pounds, 11 ounces.

"We went out with a bang" she joked when referencing what they plan to be their final child.

"They just keep getting bigger. We're going to enjoy our five."

When she found out Sonny was the biggest baby CMH had seen in at least 13 years, she was shocked.

"I couldn't believe it, I was in disbelief," she said.

"I knew I carried big babies but I didn't know he was that big. The next thing I knew there were news stations reaching out for interviews."

According to hospital data, there have been less than five births at the hospital in which the baby exceeded 6,000 grams or 13.2 pounds since 2010.

The average birth weight over that time was 7.5 pounds.
