Uptown Preston Con to celebrate Cambridge's hobby district

King Street East's hobby and game stores will be on full display this weekend

Preston has quickly established itself as a go-to hobby district in the region.

On Saturday, it'll welcome the community as Uptown Preston Con highlights all that the area has to offer.

The day will feature Brampton Batman and his 1989 Batmobile, as well the Amazing Spider-Guy.

Residents are encouraged to dress up as their favourite character while enjoying shopping, food, drinks and workshops.

Forbes Hobbies and C&C gamebridge are popular shops that have opened in recent years and offer board games, models, magic and music.

Earlier this year, Andrew Salter became the latest to join the local hobby scene when he opened Hero's Tale. The comic book store was a childhood dream, Salter told CambridgeToday.

"I've always wanted to open one of these and the opportunity came up and I knew I couldn't pass on it," he said.

"I actually bought my first comic back in 1978 and ever since then I've been hooked."

The event will begin at 11 a.m. and run until 4 p.m.
