What’s happening in Cambridge this weekend

There's sunshine in the forecast and plenty to do around the city from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1

Saturday is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and there are events planned to honour survivors and remember those who didn't make it home.

It’s a packed weekend of activities and events across Galt, Hespeler and Preston.

Friday, Sept. 29

Grandmother to Grandmother Solidarity Quilt

Queen’s Square Idea Exchange - 1 North Square, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Stop by and see quilts crafted by grandmas, omas, grannies and nanas from across Canada.

Our Love of Fabric Quilt Show

King Street Baptist Church - 361 King St E, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.

View over 200 hand crafted quilts. Refreshments, door prizes, giveaways and vendors selling fabrics and notions will also be available. Runs all weekend.

Connections 50+

Queen’s Square Idea Exchange - 1 North Square, 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Make connections with other adults while taking part in concerts, crafting, chats and more.

Hespeler Village Market

Hespeler Village, 3 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Shop for local produce and browse artisan markets during the final day of the season. Special activities are planned including a performance by the Cambridge Kiwanis Choir, balloon animals, a petting zoo and trick or treating. Kids are encouraged to where their Halloween costume. Just down the street, National Service Dogs puppies in training will be out front of The Artisans Bodega.

Kynamics Dancing on Queen

Queen Street, 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Kick off the weekend by busting a move with other residents.

Food Truck Days

Wave Maker Brewery - 639 Laurel St, 4:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Come hungry as Krankie Franie's Hub Grub is on site. Karaoke with Emma begins at 8 p.m.

Karaoke at the Galt Legion

4 Veterans Way, 7 p.m.

Warm up the vocal cords and sing the night away.

Jenny’s Place

Cambridge Community Players - 47 Water St S, 8 p.m.

The local theatre hosts the show about a woman who moves to a prairie town in Saskatchewan in the 1880s to try to start a new life by reopening a rundown boarding house. Also playing Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

Karaoke Fridays at Gator's Tail

970 Franklin Blvd, 8 p.m. - 12 a.m.

Head out to the local Sports Shack and Grill to show off your singing skills.

Saturday, Sept. 30

Cambridge Farmers’ Market

40 Dickson St, 7:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

A central community food hub, the market features 26 year round vendors and 30 seasonal vendors.

Outerwhere

Queen’s Square Idea Exchange - 1 North Square, All day

Take in one of two exhibitions by contemporary Canadian artist Meera Sethi. Running until Dec. 17.

Cotton Exchange

Preston Idea Exchange - 435 King St E, All day

The other exhibition by Meera Sethi will be open until Nov. 26.

CrossFit Cambridge

Queen Street, 9:30 a.m. - 11 p.m.

Participate in a crossfit class in the heart of Hespeler.

Art Cart: Truth and Reconciliation

Queen’s Square Idea Exchange - 1 North Square, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Add to the growing collection of orange ribbons inside the library to show solidarity with Indigenous peoples and communities.

Meet Meera Sethi, the artist featured in the multi-site exhibitions.

’93 Jays World Series 30th anniversary watch party

Gaslight District, 1 p.m.

Relive the magic of the Toronto Blue Jays 1993 World Series on the big screen. Baseball themed activities will be set up with donations being collected for the Jays Care Foundation.

Cambridge Orange Shirt Day
