What's open and closed for Victoria Day Monday

Here is a list of Cambridge retailers and facilities with holiday hours in effect this long weekend

It's time to get ready for the long weekend, Cambridge. Below is a list of how the Victoria Day holiday will impact local retailers, and city and regional facilities and services.

A reminder that private fireworks displays are permitted until 11:59 p.m. on Victoria Day.

In the case of inclement weather, the city allows residents to set off fireworks up to two days after the holiday.

No fireworks are permitted in public parks or on public roads.

Park fields are open and welcoming back many players who enjoy soccer, football, baseball, cricket, tennis, pickleball, basketball and more. The city asks to please safely share our busy community spaces so all can enjoy.

Seasonal road closures start this weekend for patio season, beginning with the Main Street closure in Galt between Ainslie and Water streets.

Retail

Cambridge Centre Mall is closed Victoria Day Monday.

All LCBO stores are closed on the holiday Monday. 

Two Cambridge Beer Store locations will be open; the store at 200 Franklin Boulevard and the drive-thru at 150 Holiday Inn Dive.

Grocery stores

All Cambridge Zehrs locations are closed Monday.

The Sobeys on Cedar Street is closed Monday.

Cambridge No Frills locations are closed Monday.

Cambridge Food Basics locations are closed Monday.

Di Pietro Food Centre is closed Monday.

Farm Boy is closed Monday.

City facilities

John Dolson Centre is open Monday, May 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

W. G. Johnson Centre is open Monday, May 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Closed

Cambridge Centre for the Arts is closed for the holiday Monday.

The Alan Reuter Centre is closed for the holiday Monday.

David Durward Centre is closed Monday, as is the Ted Wake Centre and the William E. Pautler Centre.

All city services, including administration, public works, cemeteries, arenas and Idea Exchange branches are closed for the holiday Monday.

Region of Waterloo services

Grand River Transit (GRT) will operate on a holiday service schedule on Monday, May 22. Holiday service is noted on all route schedules.

GRT customer service locations and hours of operation:

  • Call 519-585-7555 | 24/7
  • 35 Ainslie St. S., Cambridge | 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
    • Note: Customer service will be closed from about 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • 105 King St. E., Kitchener | 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Region of Waterloo International Airport

Waste, recycling, green bin and yard waste: Regular curbside waste collection. Remember to have waste items to the curb by 7 a.m.

Region of Waterloo Museums are open, with regular business hours

What’s closed on Victoria Day

All Regional Administrative Offices (99 Regina – Waterloo, 150 Frederick – Kitchener, 150 Main – Cambridge, Airport Administrative offices)

Cambridge and Waterloo small vehicle transfer stations for residential waste drop-off are closed.

All Region of Waterloo Library locations

Welcome Spaces (99 Regina, 150 Main, and 235 King) are closed Monday, May 22.

Home Child Care offices are closed. For urgent issues, call 519-575-4400 and ask for Home Child Care.

Sunnyside Home reception and administration will be closed Monday, but visitors and caregivers are welcome.
